After a good degree of infectious encouragement from Annie, a team of hardened hill-lovers (some blissfully unaware of what was yet to come) arrived in heavy rain at the Cross Keys public house on the outskirts of Uppermill to register for the annual Cross Keys Relay, consisting of four legs: two challenging legs on the road (3 miles, 650 ft ascent) and two tougher legs over the rain-soaked fell (2.5 miles, 800 ft ascent).
The men’s team of Andrew Taylor (road), Jason Stott (fell), James Corrigan (road) and Vic Walsh (fell) made it around the tough course in 1:44:22, while the mixed team “Belle Vue Belles + 1”, Belle Vue adoptee for the day Dennis Thomas (road), Julia Foy (fell), Annie Hirsch (road) and Catherine McKenna (fell), completed the four hard laps in 2:06:56. Well done all!
