How blessed we were with the weather to mark the first outing of Belle Vue Racers’ new 5 mile Summer race, the Mad Hatter. A cool, bright evening welcomed well over 200 runners to take on two laps of the course, climbing and winding around the beautiful Reddish Vale Country Park.
One place better than his position at Belle Vue Racers’ winter trail race, Hit the Trail, first home was Damian Nicholls of Wilmslow RC in 28:36, followed by Barry Archbold, also of Wilmslow RC, in 29:45, with Andrew Carlin of Sale Harriers taking third spot in 30:20. Also taking fourth and sixth spots, Wilmslow RC took the men’s team prize.
Taking eighth place overall, it was Diane McVey of Wilmslow RC who was victorious in the women’s race with a time of 32:21. Second and third places were taken by Sale Harriers’ Katie White in 33:20 and Sarah Douglas in 34:27. Sale Harriers also took the women’s team prize after securing fourth and eighth spots.

Belle Vue Racers would like to thank each and every one of the clubs and runners who supported the Mad Hatter in its first year. We look forward to seeing you in January for the 2016 edition of Hit the Trail.
