Rochdale 10K: A win for Belle Vue

Tuesday 1st July 2014
On a warm and muggy evening in Rochdale, 21 Belle Vue Racers gathered to take on the undulating roads of the popular Rochdale 10K race.  After some initial confusion about the direction we’d set off out of Springfield Park, 350 runners headed out to start what turned out to be a great night.
Belle Vue’s Alison Sedman led the women’s field home in first place (40:53), followed by Michelle Hushion of Middleton Harriers and Laura Hesketh of Blackburn Harriers.
Annie Hirsch (47:09) was the second Belle Vue woman home, winning her age category in the process, followed by Kath Horwill (48:31).  With Anne Webster (53:29) also taking second place behind Annie in their age category, a great night was had by the Belle Vue women.
First Belle Vue man home was Simon Stead (40:32), followed by Adam Barber (41:09) and Nigel Sedman (41:47).
Rochdale’s special-edition commemorative white socks were almost as well received as the water at the finish line.  A tough race in the heat but a fantastic night for BVR.  AT
