Round the Resers 5M MT

Wednesday 18th June 2014
Rolling hills of Longdendale Valley and hot, sultry, evening sunshine provided the appealing backdrop of the annual Round the Resers Race at Tintwistle.
The fast, downhill start led the 290 enthusiastic runners nicely onto the undulating, tree lined trail before tackling the steep, challenging climb. Thankfully, the long, flat track, bordering the reservoir provided welcome respite and beautiful views of the surrounding area.

Simon Stead was first BVR male home, achieving a PB (33:23), closely followed by Nigel Sedman, also with a PB (33:51), and, in third place, Greg Barber (34:32). Alison Sedman, with a PB, was first female BVR (33:48), followed by Annie Hirsch (38:58) and Carmel Salvidge also with with a PB (41:04).
A lovely run on a beautiful evening! Thank you Tintwistle Children’s Gala for a well-organised event. More of the same next year please. However, note to self for 2015: more insect repellent; the midges had a feast!  JSh
